Social media moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. In order to help you keep up, the team here at SME Digital has distilled the biggest stories of the past week into one easy to digest chunk.

The Dallas Cowboys are evidently hiring in their Social Media department after they latched on to the unfortunate hashtag #CowboysUK for their trip across the pond. The last time that hashtag was used, Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal were nominated for Oscars.

CEO Kevin Systrom broke his two year abstinence from Twitter to welcome back Rihanna to Instagram. According to Systrom, Twitter is a more appropriate place for the star to share her nipples with her followers.

The greatest technological achievement of the week goes to Minneapolis-based digital agency, Colle+McVoy who created a way to incentivize their employees to fill out their TPS reports. The TapServer is a unique beer deployment system that rewards employees for doing their job 16 ounces at a time.

Judging by the posts during the mid-term elections, voters on Facebook associate more closely with green than red or blue. The hottest topic was the legalization of recreational use of marijuana, followed closely by heated debates over which is better, Doritos or Fritos.

Microsoft has been trying hard to get some traction in the tablet market and judging by the celebrity endorsements from CNN anchors, the Surface excels at being a world-class stand for an iPad. For more information about Microsoft’s second-rate tablet, simply type “surface” in their second-rate search engine, Bing.

Apparently the internet caught on fire last week when a photo snapped of Bieber-esque bagger #AlexFromTarget went viral. After taking credit for the viral spread, tech company Breakr announced that this was their most successful campaign since they created the #IceBucketChallenge.

With Benedict Cumberbatch off the market, it seems like UK police can’t even solve the most elementary crimes. A wanted Lincolnshire man has been taunting police by posting selfies taken in front of the police station.

Finally, President Obama teamed up with pop sensation, Taylor Swift, to urge millenials to rock the vote.
