A look back at five years of the Digiday Publishing Awards

It’s almost time for the Digiday Publishing Awards. The early bird deadline is Nov. 20 at midnight PST. View the complete list of categories here. With the awards in their fifth year, here’s a look back at the Best in Show campaigns over the years that impressed judges for their performance, creativity and emotional impact.

Best in Show went to The New York Times’ video team for “Surviving an ISIS Massacre,” a harrowing interview with Ali Hussein Kadhim, an Iraqi soldier who survived a massacre carried out by ISIS soldiers in Tikrit, Iraq.

Lifestyle media company Urban Daddy won for “MINI Night Out,” an activation in partnership with Mini where guests were chauffeured to the hottest clubs in Manhattan over three nights.

Vox Media won the first iteration of Best in Show at the Publishing Awards for its use of native advertising and growth of new brands such as The Verge and Polygon.

AOL was honored with Best Editorial Achievement by a Publisher, an early incarnation of Best in Show.
